Intraoperative Surprises II
Intraoperative complications during strabismus surgery may result in serious ocular and systemic morbidity. This paper addresses wrong eye and wrong muscle surgery, anesthesia-related complications, hemorrhage, and intraocular perforations. The characteristics and consequences of these complications are discussed. Emphasis is placed on preventative measures and then management once a complication occurs.
